Valentines Glam

Well it's that time again! The infamous Valentines Day is right around the corner. I know that most people think it's the silliest holiday, regardless if they have someone to share it with or not but I've always been a sucker for 'the most romantic day of the year' even though it never turns out to be the most romantic day of the year because us being girls, we fill it with the Notebook love story romance sky high expectations... which we all need to STOP because lets face it, Noah Calhoun isn't going to be knocking on our door to sweep us off our feet anytime soon. This year I'll be working but none the less I'm happy it's another day I get to celebrate with my boo and regardless of what time I get home I know I have a handsome face to smooch when I do and that's enough for me. Key the cheesy 'awwww's...

I put together this really simple, soft look that I thought would be perfect for the big day. If you are heading on a hot date with your man, spending the night with girlfriends or just putting yourself together to drink wine on the couch by yourself and watch re-runs of Sex and The City, you'll be able to achieve this and feel damn good by doing it

Who would have guessed it? My one and only... Dipbrow! I wear Soft Brown by Anastasia Beverly Hills everyyyy day

The only place I could find this palette online was HERE

Mascara: Maybelline Lash Sensational
Falsies: Kiss Lashes in Style 01 {I did cut these lashes to make them a bit more whispy for this look. I wished I had Ardell's Demi Wispies at home, but I did not, so I took to the scissors and customized these ones}

One Love: Loral Pro Palette

So I mentioned today on my Facebook page {SC Makeup Artistry} that basically if my house was burning down, and I saved all the things a person needs to save first... like their fiance and their fur baby, and I could save one eye shadow palette out of my whole collection, that the Lorac Pro Palette would be the one I would take with me. This palette is so versatile and gorgeous. It has 8 matte shadows and 8 with shimmer so you can create every type of look possible. This palette was limited edition when it came out for us Canadians who rely on Sephora for our beloved beauty purchases, but you can still pick up this beauty from the following links:  Nordstrom, Ebay and Amazon

Anywhoooo...
the moral of the story is that all shadows mentioned down below are from this palette and you should go buy one because I promise you won't regret it!

What's New

People ask me all the time what my favourite brand of makeup is and what I use most. The truth is there are so many amazing brands and products, which all range from low to high end prices, so I really couldn't narrow it down! Below are some of my favourite products I have recently just picked up and have been LOVING and thought I would share :)

I have been really into trying out new skincare lately as our winter's are typically very cold and very dry and there's nothing I hate more than dry skin. I picked up the Peter Roth: Best Face Forward with 500 of my Sephora points to give them a try. I had never used Peter Roth products before so I love when I can pick up smaller sized products for free to give them a try

What it came with: Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel, Cucumber Gel Mask and the FIRMx Peeling Gel. I've been loving the Cleansing Gel for a daily cleanser. It smells really good and leaves my skin feeling super clean and fresh. The peel is amazing. I can literally feel it rolling off all my dead skin and washing it away! Yussss. I have used the gel mask only a few times (it says to use 2-3 times a week but I forget) and so far it's been great... Fresh and clean yet again! Loving these 3 so far

Tarte Sweet Dreams Deluxe Best Sellers Collection

What it came with: Maracuja Oil, Maracuja C-Brighter eye treatment and 'Dreamy' cheek stain. Both the oil and eye treatment are infused with antioxidant fruit and plant extractors to provide firmer, brighter and smoother skin. The cheek stain is a pinky nude that will look good on almost anybody and the packaging is of course just icing on the cake. So cute! I have these on display in my bathroom

Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer

What is it: A performance-driven moisturizer rich in corrective nutrients. This moisturizer is literally my new favourite ever! I've been hearing amazing things about Perricone MD (specifically the No Foundation Foundation and the No Blush Blush but just haven't gotten there yet) so when I saw that I could grab a mini container of this moisturizer and give it a try for only $12.00 I just couldn't resist. I have not been disappointed at all as this leaves my skin smooth as a babies bottom and is really great for leaving my skin looking radiant. I will definitely be buying the larger size of this baby

Onto Makeup...

my favourite affordable lash brand available at your local Wally World

I love these lashes. I usually wear the style 11 but I picked up these babes in 01 last time I was cruising around Walmart and I love how long and flirty they are! Super affordable is obviously an added bonus and I love that they come in combo packs or in singles

Colourpop Cosmetics Super Shock Show

Amaze + Rex + So Quiche

Okay so not only are these shadows freaking amazingly pigmented but they are AFFORDABLE beyond belief. They run at $5.00 a piece and come in tons of shades and finishes. Metallics, Pearlized, Pressed Pigments, Satin, Tie Dye, Ultra-Metallic and Matte, there is something for everyone. The down side is that the shipping is a bit on the pricy side when you live in Canada like me, but because the cost of the products themselves are so reasonable it still adds up to a great price

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows

Fig + Taupe Platinum

Beautiful shadows with tons of pigment and that blend really well. That's all you need to know. Oh and that they come in every colour you could ever imagine

The one, the only... The Jaclyn Hill Favourites Palette by Morphe Brushes
this bad boy sold out in a day...

If anyone reading this blog doesn't know who Jaclyn Hill is you need to go to her youtube channel now and it will change your life. So many people look up to her so much and live through her tutorials so it was no surprise that when she did this collaboration with Morphe Brushes that as soon as this palette launched the site shut down and then when they got it together, it sold out basically in a day. I just got this in the mail this week and I have already been using it daily. The colours are so versatile and full of pigments that I can't wait to create some fun looks with this in the days to come

Bobbi Brown Brightening Powder in Bronze Glow

Best brightening powder ever. I love glowing skin and this is so beautiful and illuminating. I use this mostly as a highlighter on the tops of my cheeks but it looks beautiful on the eyes as well. Bobbi Brown always knows how to kill it when it comes to the highlighting products. Also check out her Shimmer Bricks! lahhhaaaave

Maybelline Lash Sensational

Awesome drugstore mascara. Affordable and it gives great length and volume. Nothing more I need!

MAC Faux Lipstick

Ummm yes. My favourite lip products ever are by Mac and I definitely stay true to that each and every time I order a new shade. The longevity and colour pay off is so perfect. I have been craving that Kylie Jenner lip colour since it became so popular and I heard this was one of the shades she uses so... naturally I bought it... and then I fell in love

WHEW
that was long...

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and it gives you some inspo for your next makeup shopping spree!

'til next time...

Green With Envy

I find there are few things in life I enjoy more than spending time with lovely ladies and chit chatting while doing their makeup. I had such a blast playing with a pop of colour on a standard smokey eye, something that the lovely lady featured on this blog post is a bit fearful of. It's so nice to surprise them with something they never thought would be wearable and also look so stunning on them!

From the Tamanna Palette I used Bengal as my transition shade and Chocolate from inner to outer corner on the crease. On the outer corners of the eye I used a combination of Chocolate and Noir. On the lid I used the amazing green shade Damaged from The Vice 2 Palette and in the centre of the lid I popped a little Venezia from the Tamanna Palette to brighten it up

Cat Eyes: Rose Gold

Is it really possible that I could be so blessed in doing what I love so much, that I continuously fall more in love with it every single day? Because I'm feeling like so!

Today was one of those days where you just know it's going to be a good one. My beautiful friend Payvand literally has the most flawless skin and perfect brows, I was so excited to finally be doing her make up. Something I have wanted to do for ages! To top it off she has stunning big round eyes and that just made for the best canvas ever. I wanted to do a dramatic cat eye and keep the eyelid bright and glowing. I basically just stared at her in awe once we were done. She looked so freakin' gorgeous and I could not have dreamt up a more flawless final look.

the finished product:

I'm so in love!

Primer: MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
Eyeshadows Breakdown: I layered Milani Bella Gel shadows in Bella Caffe and Bella Bronze on the upper crease, then taking Bella Bronze I worked it into the outer corner, topped with the shade Silly from the 'Nude Tude Palette by The Balm to really darken and smoke out the outer corners. I used Woodwinked by Mac all over the lid then topped it with their Melon pigment. I applied this pigment wet by using Fix+ to make it really glow. To smoke out the lower lash line I used to a combo of Silly and Bella Bronze

NYE

Good morning my friends! Happy last day of 2014. I know I say this basically every post but-- WHERE HAS THIS YEAR GONE!? This morning I spent an extra few minutes in bed cuddling with my fur baby than I normally would, to think and reflect, I'm feeling very grateful for this past year as it has been a huge learning experience for me. Learning about what I love to do, and what I don't... and teaching myself to follow my heart no matter what. I'm also more than ready to take on another year, one I can only hope will be full of adventure and fun!

My parents have been in town for a few weeks now, and my beautiful Mama, is the proud owner of the Stila 'In the Light' palette that I constantly drool over but have oddly enough never picked up and used... Until yesterday! I finally got my hands on it and played with some looks. I love doing a dark lid with gorgeous full falsies and then keeping the bottom clean and bright so the whole look isn't too heavy. This look is gorge for a night out on the town, and perfect for your New Years Eve party tonight!

See what I mean about the bright factor? L o v e !

What I used...

The pigment in this palette. Just amazing!

Face...

Primer: Benefit Porefessional
Foundation: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 5.5 {I love this foundation more than words but shade 5.5 is clearly way too dark for my skin tone, I bought this in Vegas when I had a spray tan and the girl suggested this shade for me... clearly wrong, but I'm obsessed with it so the odd time I do wear it, I spray Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs down my neck and connect it to my top}
Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me in Light
Powder: Banana by Anastasia Beverly Hills from her Contour Palette
Contour: Nars Laguna
Blush: BH Cosmetics Glamourous Blush Palette {peachy pink shade}
Highlight: Nars Albatross

Eyes...

Primer: MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Eyeshadow Breakdown: I used Bliss as my transition colour, and then blended Sandstone in the crease as well as the outer corner of the eye. I then applied Kitten all over the lid, and again took more Sandstone to blend throughout the crease, adding a touch of Ebony to smoke everything out. I used Venus from Urban Decay Cosmetics for my inner corner and brow bone highlight
Waterline: Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Liner in Perfect Black on the top and Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude on my lower
Mascara: Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash in Black
Lashes: House of Lashes in Iconic

Eyebrows...

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in Soft Brown

Lips...

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo {I'm so obsessed with these right now. Affordable, gorgeous range of colours and they last so long on the lips}

"May your coming year be filled with magic
 and dreams and good madness.
I hope you read some find books
and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful,
and don't forget to make some art -
write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.
And I hope, somewhere in the next year,
you surprise yourself."

Have a night full of laughter, dolls.
See you next year!
